Transition Phase

Transition Phase

Once the maximum hair length has been reached and the growth phase has ended, the catagen phase (transition phase) begins. During this time, the hair prepares for the resting phase and cell growth stops. The hair root is no longer supplied with nutrients, which is why it slowly begins to shrink. Only a small proportion of all hair is in the catagen phase, as this only lasts for around two weeks.
