Traction Alopecia

Traction Alopecia

Traction alopecia is a form of hair loss and is caused by repeated tensile stress on the hair, e.g. with tight hairstyles such as braids or cornrows. The constant tensile stress causes the hair follicles to be damaged and the hair to fall out gradually.

Typically, traction alopecia mainly affects the hair on the forehead, temples and nape of the neck.
