You're only as old as you feel - and, of course, as you look. But that is easier said than done. Far too often, saggy skin, light hair or a few extra pounds disrupt our youthful, fresh appearance.
Fortunately, we’re not left on our own. Mesotherapy is here to bring back our old glow. But what is it, how does it work and what are the costs? Let us introduce you to the method from A to Z.
What is Mesotherapy?
We should thank Dr. Michel Pistor for the discovery of mesotherapy. In 1958, the French doctor created this revolutionary method. He applied the basics of acupuncture, neural therapy and medicinal therapy. And the success proved him right. After more than 70 years, it is impossible to imagine modern medicine without it.
Especially in aesthetic medicine, this gentle form of treatment has long since proven its worth - on a worldwide scale. Mesotherapy treatment helps skin and hair repair and renew themselves in a gentle manner. It is not without reason that the German Society for Mesotherapy is constantly developing and improving minimally invasive therapy.
In the professional field, mesotherapy is even viewed as a bridge between conventional medicine and naturopathy. Especially in Canada, the USA and France, this bridge is on the forefront of research. In Germany, the modern method is also on the rise.
But what is the actual meaning of the name? Why do we speak of mesotherapy?
The term is derived from the Greek word "meso", which translates as "medium". It refers to the so-called mesoderm. This is formed in the third week of human development from skin and connective tissue - precisely the target areas of mesotherapy.
What Makes Mesotherapy so Special?
Mesotherapy is characterized by its particularly gentle procedure. It is a minimally invasive method that skilfully vitalises the skin, hair and connective tissue.
The special thing: In contrast to classic cosmetic surgery, mesotherapy does not require surgery at all. The patient does not have to fear general anesthesia or serious postoperative side effects.
Even the popular neurotoxin with letter B trumps mesotherapy with ease. The patient has less pain and rarely suffers from redness and swelling.
How Does Mesotherapy Work?
At the heart of the gentle treatment is a select cocktail of active ingredients consisting of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, vitamins and other selected active ingredients such as amino acids and coenzymes. The mix varies from patient to patient. The doctor adapts it exactly to your individual needs.
The readily-mixed bundle of active ingredients is injected directly into the middle layer of the skin. The doctor uses fine micro-injections for this. He administers them by means of microneedling, using short, fine cannulas. Alternatively, he uses a mesotherapy gun, a fully automatic multi-needle system.
The patient hardly feels any pain during the treatment. Since the injection also contains a mild anesthetic, the treatment is fairly pleasant and painless for the most part.
Application of Mesotherapy
The first thing we think of when we think of mesotherapy is skin rejuvenation. But the treatment is used for more than just anti-aging. It unfolds its full effect in several areas of application. Allow us to introduce you to the most important ones.
Mesolift - Mesotherapy Against Wrinkles
The most common meso therapeutic treatment is the mesolift or biolift. This gentle form of therapy tightens and smoothes small wrinkles, lines and furrows on the neck, décolleté and face. The skin immediately appears firmer, fresher and more youthful.
The smoothing is made possible by the combination of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. These are joined by stem cell activators and active ingredients that promote circulation. With combined forces, the energy bundle revitalizes and activates the skin.
With mesolift, hyaluron is an important key player in achieving vitality. It gives our skin volume and natural elasticity. The principle is simple: Hyaluron binds water. And this is exactly what makes our skin look noticeably smoother and firmer.
The only problem: with age, our body slowly runs out of hyaluron. Year after year, our skin loses its suppleness and elasticity. But luckily, the body's own active ingredient can be easily replaced. Artificial hyaluron through the injections with Mesolift provides a natural push-up effect.
At the same time, the Mesolift slows down skin aging. It specifically stimulates the microcirculation so that the aging process progresses more slowly.
Mesolift enjoys great popularity. The principle: A small amount of muscle relaxants is added to the injection and administered into the skin layers. This small dose is supposed to gently conceal small wrinkles. The big advantage: the method is much gentler than the classic muscle relaxant treatment.
Mesohair - The Mesotherapy Against Hair Loss
But not only for the skin, also for the hair mesotherapy can be a blessing. In an ideal case, it stops age-related hair loss and preserves your youthful, fresh glow.
To counteract the signs of time, the treatment relies on a proven mixture of bio revitalizers. Dexpanthenol, biotin, coenzyme Q10, thymus extract or special active ingredient complexes penetrate deep into the scalp and stimulate tired hair roots.
But that's not all: they also promote other important growth factors such as blood flow and supply the scalp with precious nutrients.
The result we hope for: hair loss slows down, natural growth increases and the hair gains strength, bounce and elasticity. Immediately it makes a younger and fresher impression.
The first results are already visible after a short treatment period. In more than 80 percent of patients, hair loss is already reduced after the third session. After two to three months, they are already amazed at noticeably fuller, stronger and healthier hair.
Even with weaker forms of hair loss such as circular hair loss, Mesohair shows its effect. Often, the thinning areas fade noticeably into the background after just a few treatments. The youthful freshness returns.
If the treating physician adds homeopathic active ingredients to the infection, other complaints such as dandruff can be treated effortlessly in addition to the age-related hair loss. The same applies to an overactivity of the sebaceous glands. The overzealous sebum production slows down so that your hair stays fresh and well-groomed for longer.
Mesocellulite - The Secret Tip Against Orange Peel Skin
In the fight against cellulite and small fat pads on the abdomen, legs and buttocks, the physician advises his patients to use meso cellulite. The concept of this treatment: The damaged skin layers come into contact with a powerful cocktail of active ingredients. This is infused into them with the help of extremely fine injection needles.
The selected ingredients not only activate the metabolism, but also the fat burning. Because it is precisely through this effective duo that skin and connective tissue can be demonstrably tightened and smoothed.
Especially normal-weight and corpulent patients are highly eligible for meso cellulite. If they cannot reduce stubborn fat deposits with sport and diets as desired, the mild form of therapy actively supports them.
Good to know: meso cellulite also does its job if you are obese. If we combine the treatment with a diet, unwanted pounds can be effectively reduced.
Mesotherapy in Medicine - A Real All-Rounder
In medicine, mesotherapy is also very popular. Especially for treating cosmetic blemishes like spider veins, scars, pigment disorders, stretch marks and age spots, the results are very convincing.
Mesotherapy also promises good results for stubborn skin diseases such as couperose, neurodermatitis, acne, psoriasis or rosacea. But that's not all: doctors can also recommend the gentle therapy with a clear conscience for other injuries and diseases - for example:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatism
- Headaches and migraines
- Chronic infections (e.g. urinary or respiratory tract infections)
- Wound healing and circulatory disorders
- Sports injuries - especially bruises, tendonitis, strains and sprains
- Psychosomatic complaints such as inner restlessness, sleep disorders, burnout, constant nervousness, depressive moods
- Back and joint pain
