Transition phase

Transition phase

When the maximum hair length is reached and the growth phase is over, the catagen phase (transition phase) begins. During this time, the hair prepares for the resting phase and cell growth stops. The hair root is no longer supplied with nutrients, which is why it slowly begins to shrink. Only a small part of all hairs are in the catagen phase, as it only lasts for about two weeks.
