Hereditary hair loss

Hereditary hair loss

The term 'androgenetic alopecia' (also known as 'hereditary hair loss') loosely translates as 'hair loss caused by male hormones'. This is a form of hair loss that is triggered by a predisposed increased sensitivity of the hair follicles to the male sex hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
